The Tennessee Charter Schools Association (TCSA) serves quality public charter schools by educating communities, empowering supporters, and promoting legislation to create an educational landscape of excellent options for all students.

In 2002, Tennessee became the 39th state to pass public charter school legislation. Ten years later, in the 2012-2013 academic year, 48 charter schools are in operation across the state. To support the growing charter movement in Tennessee, TCSA has developed three strategic priorities:

Advocacy

TCSA focuses on engaging supporters of quality public charter schools in all local and state-level advocacy activities. We strive to empower parents, school leaders, teachers, and community members to have a strong, effective voice in the process of creating opportunities for all Tennessee students. Charter School Quality and Accountability

TCSA promotes strong accountability measures to ensure that only high-quality public charter schools open and operate in Tennessee. We advocate for an objective authorization process and for fair, unbiased treatment of all schools. TCSA believes in transparency of academic data and business operations and supports strong practices in all schools. View our school data.
